bring nature home

about terrariums

Terrariums offer a unique and easy way to bring nature into your home without taking up too much space or requiring too much upkeep. At Terrarimum, our terrariums come with care guides that make maintaining your mini ecosystem simple.

Closed terrariums are a popular option, as they create an ideal environment for plant growth. The glass walls allow heat and light to enter, which creates humidity inside the terrarium. As moisture from the soil and plants evaporates, the water cycle begins, and the water vapour condenses onto the walls of the container. This process eventually results in the water falling back onto the plants and soil, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem.

For those who prefer desert plants like cacti and succulents, a planted desert bowl is a perfect option. These plants thrive on direct sunlight and good air circulation and do not require a lid. Desert bowls can be placed either indoors or outdoors, as long as they receive direct sunlight. Minimal watering is required for desert bowls to thrive, making them a low-maintenance choice for any home.

about the maker

Hello, I’m Brooke

I have been making terrariums for over five years and strive to make each individual piece beautiful, natural and resilient. I take much of my inspiration from the natural environments that different plant species originate from - and try to match the landscape of the environment into the glass vessel using rocks, driftwood or mosses.

My terrariums are built to last and come with care guides that will help you keep your terrarium happy and healthy for years to come. Each terrarium I make includes an acrylic or glass lid to trap the humidity and moisture needed for the plants inside to thrive - meaning minimal upkeep for you!

To combat common issues such as mould growth, I add insects called Springtails to all my closed terrariums. These tiny white critters feed on mould and decaying plants. They are essential to keep the mini ecosystem of a terrarium healthy and looking tidy.

Each terrarium is unique and made to order, meaning the pictures shown are only an example of what to expect your terrarium to look like. Some plants are seasonal so please keep in mind that certain plants may not be available at certain times during the year. Please allow at least two weeks for me to complete your order before delivery or local pick up.

Please contact me if you have a custom order request or have any questions.

Thank you!
